Today, I vote.
And go to Costco. And take back that movie I fell asleep watching. And finally take down Jay's birthday party decorations. And balance the checkbook. And maybe, just maybe, put away the million loads of laundry that are piled up in Jay & I's room.
Why do I always put away the kids' laundry and completely ignore my own? It's a sickness... one that I curse every morning when looking for the only pair of jeans that currently fit.
I hate those jeans.
The rest of the month includes parent-teacher conferences, preparing for Thanksgiving, preparing for Christmas, and - oh yeah - preparing for the arrival of the newest little Fear. I have to admit I am not at all mentally ready for a newborn. Day-to-day life with 3 young kids has left me with little time for pondering the joys and frustrations (mostly joys... right?) that are going to be coming my way starting November 28th. I know there is going to be some sibling jealousy and lots of poopy diapers and lack of sleep, but... my mind can't seem to process beyond the leftover pumpkin pie in the fridge and the fact that I can't forget to pay Bea's preschool bill tomorrow.
That's all the room I've got in my brain right now.
Which might explain why this post is so scattered.
It's also 4:30 in the morning and I can't sleep. People who say things like "get your sleep now, while you can!" have either never been pregnant or have completely forgotten what it was like when they were. I haven't had a good night's sleep in three months, and I'm not expecting to have one until sometime in 2010.
Yikes.
See? This is why my brain keeps focusing on pumpkin pie. It's much less stressful.

So true! For me, I know I should have Christmas ready, but I just can't think of anything besides the mess that we are currently living in. But, even that doesn't seem to motivate me enough to actually do something about it. Maybe the problem is we are actually giving our brain cells over to the next generation... :)
Oh, crap. It's November? That reminds me, I have to pay for preschool, rent, start thinking of Christmas gifts, take down Halloween decorations...I don't think the brain problem is selective to pregnant women. It's mothers in general. Excuse me while I go do laundry that hasn't been done in a week.
Good idea...just think about the pie! The rest will all fall into place, right? Oh the sleepless nights of eating bowls of cereal and watching food network...I remember them well. Hang in there things will change (for the good!) in a few short weeks :)
and p.s. Brenda is right on the motherhood brain, I still can't pull things together months after being able to blame it on being pregnant!
I think putting away is highly over-rated. We should compare pictures of piles. By the way, I hope to be able to start getting a good night's sleep in 2010.
I can totally relate to your feelings! Hang in there. You are doing an awesome job!
Rita
I was just thinking yesterday about how much I'm looking forward to this baby being born, so I can sleep. I've never had issues sleeping with baby Will & Ben (watch as I jinx myself), but I just can't sleep when I'm pregnant!
I always do the halfway laundry thing too--I get about half of the laundry sorted, then about half of that put away, then the rest just sits there....and sits there.....
